Janne Kearney's Solo exhibition at theGeelong Art Society, is a retrospective of recent works, predominately figurative and portrait, covering several paintings from her "Gone bush" pub scenes, as well as her tattooed series from the "Inside Out" exhibition, as well as her "Senior Moments" series and several of her self portraits.
Her paintings ask the viewer to disregard preconceived perceptions of people, society and at times reality. Each painting invites you to contemplate, reflect, and reminisce, they often evoke profound thoughts, emotions and humor.
The works are full of texture and color done in a contemporary realist manner and could be described as iconoclastic...they challenge or overturn traditional beliefs, customs, and values, consciously utilizing both traditional and innovative techniques, the exhibition explores retro and neo kustome kulture, this is a must see exhibition.
